“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” as the song goes (though we think summer at Maine Camps is pretty fabulous too!). We appreciate the joy of this holiday season and we see how our beautiful Maine summer camp playgrounds have become idyllic winter wonderlands.
While we aren’t at camp during the winter, here are five ways to keep the camp spirit alive at home:
- Get outside and get active. Take a walk or a hike. If there’s snow by you – build a snowman, create snow angels, go sledding, and make snow cones!
- Get crafty. String some bracelets, write a song, and make camp scrapbooks, photo albums, and highlight reels.
- Get cookin’! With your camper, bake and cook some of his/her favorite foods. Roast marshmallows at the fireplace. And, microwave S’mores can hold us over ‘til we convene around the campfire.
- Get in touch. Connect with camp friends and other friends and family you may not see daily. Give a call, send a text, FaceTime, or even write a letter.
- Be a player. MadLibs, board games, cards, charades, indoor hoops, knock hockey, and other fan faves.
After all – once a camper; always a camper! Add the fun and sunshine wherever you are. We wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and we can’t wait to reunite in Maine in summer ’24!
