Celebrating Women at Maine Camps
March 6, 2024, by MCE Blog Team

During Women’s History Month and with International Women’s Day this week, we think about the countless contributions women have made to Maine Camps and how Maine Camps help raise strong women.

At Maine Camps (girls camps, coed camps, and even boys camps, too), women play a strong role. Women have been camp founders, owners, directors, group leaders, and more. They’ve filled key leadership positions that help create incredible environments where campers and staff can come from all over the world for life changing experiences. They have strong vision, they make important decisions, and they provide invaluable insights and guidance. We’re thankful for and inspired by what the women of Maine Camps contribute with their dedication, intelligence, strength, and warmth.

In addition to the women who have served as leaders and role models, we tip our hats to the girls growing into spectacular young women as Maine campers. Each summer, tens of thousands of girls come to Maine Camps where they gain confidence, independence, and resilience. They form lifelong friendships and have fun. They develop their interpersonal skills. They take on leadership roles and responsibilities as they get older. They carry on the spirit and the traditions of the camps that make them so special. These campers return to their families and hometown communities with a stronger sense of self and a heightened sense of the importance of community. Girls who have spent time at Maine Camps are on their path to take on the world. They’re ready to travel, to go to college, and to tackle life beyond.

So … let’s hear it for the girls – and the guys – everyone who makes Maine Camps great and who comes out of Maine Camps their best selves.
