Geographic Diversity

The lure of Maine extends way beyond the Northeast. Maine camps attract families and children from all over the country, as well as abroad. More than 20,000 children from over 40 states and 20 countries are welcomed to Maine camps each year for the summer of a lifetime.

Your children will learn to stretch their boundaries and experience camp with new friends whose life is not a mirror image of their own. What is great about Maine camps—with their diverse population— is that children get the chance to be themselves. They can pursue their own unique interests, push beyond their comfort zones and learn to find commonality within a group.

MCE campers, counselors and alumni consistently say the friendships they make at camp are the most profound and meaningful of their lives. The geographic diversity of the Maine camps help campers form inseparable bonds with peers and staff they might not experience at home. Such diversity fosters understanding and appreciation, contributing significantly to their emotional and social development.

International Exposure

Susan said,

One of the things we especially like is the international exposure that Camp North Star provides. Our boys have met people from all over the world and have come to appreciate the cultural diversities that they have been exposed to.
