What do Maine's summer camps have in common with windjammer cruises? Both are signature Vacationland experiences that take place in a state famous for outdoor adventure, natural scenery and fun. For parents looking for something to do while the kids are at camp, or with their kids pre/post camp, taking a 3, 4 or 5-day cruise fits in nicely.
There are 10 vessels in the fleet, with room for between 6 and 40 guests depending on the size of the ship. Some of the trips have special themes (photography, wine-tasting, seamanship, lighthouses or puffin-scouting), plus there are several gatherings of the entire fleet like the Great Schooner Race or Rockland Parade of Sail. The windjammers are under sail for about 6 hours a day, then anchor so guests can go ashore and explore a new island or fishing village.
