Maine Camp Activities Make For A Well-Rounded Summer

When we think of things to do at camp, chances are the first things that come to mind are the always-awesome swimming and waterskiing (in crystal clear Maine lakes, of course), hiking (in the lush wilderness of Maine, of course!), and crafts (in the…you get the idea). But what about culinary arts? Or sound production? These days, the list of activities to choose from at summer camp is extensive and varied, with campers getting to choose how to build their idea of a dream summer.

In addition to all the many benefits that summer camp provides – learning to live together, a sense of responsibility, being away from home – activities give campers the opportunity to grow in new ways. A seemingly endless list of activities gives kids the opportunity to learn a new skill, work together in teams, perfect something they already work on, or try something completely off the wall in a safe environment. Summer camp activities let kids grow, stretch, and take risks, all with the support and encouragement of fellow campers, counselors, and staff. Plus, they’re super fun.

To put an extensive list of every activity offered at Maine summer camps would make for a really long post. But to give you an idea of what’s offered, here are some of the main categories with some examples of what’s on the menu at Maine camps. Each camp offers something a little different, and some focus more on one thing than the other, but all are taught by experienced professionals, and caring staff.
