7 Reasons To Summer Camp In Maine
December 10, 2015, by Kristy

It’s no secret that Maine is a place of beauty, but that’s only one reason among many that Maine is, hands down, the best place to attend summer camp. Here are seven, off the top of my head.

  1. Experienced Owners and Directors

All of our Maine camps have strong leadership, with owners/directors that have years of experience. These men and women are the real deal – consummate, caring professionals, who know how to foster a positive environment that enable their campers to have fun, learn, and grow. Many of our Maine camps have been around for over 100 years, and some of our directors are the next generation of a family business.

  1. Vast Properties with Significant Facilities

Maine camp properties are huge, beautiful, and dotted with well-maintained fields, courts, and buildings. Besides the pleasing visuals, these state-of-the-art facilities mean plenty of opportunities for campers to gain new skills, or work on existing interests.

  1. Crystal Clear Lakes

In addition to the lush green forests that cover the landscape of Maine, our camps are all situated on large, crystal clear lakes. They are beautiful, yes, but they also allow for daily waterfront activities – sailing, water skiing, paddle boarding, swimming, canoeing, and more.

  1. Top-Notch Staff

The staff at all our Maine camps is well-vetted, top-notch talent. Recruited from across the U.S. and around the world, these people are experts in their field, and well trained by seasoned camp directors. The counselors and staff also have a significant impact on their campers, helping them gain confidence, achieve their goals, and learn valuable life skills.

  1. Trips Throughout Maine

Attending summer camp in Maine means … you get to be in Maine! And each one of our camps incorporates off-campus trips throughout this beautiful state. There are opportunities to visit such landmarks as Boothbay Harbor, Acadia National Park, the Allagash River, as well as fun sites like Funtown Splashtown USA and Old Orchard Beach.

  1. Geographic Diversity

Our campers are from all over. They hail from across the country, and in some cases, from around the world. When a child attends summer camp in Maine, they are going to meet and interact with people from all over, and in the process, expand their horizons.

  1. Lifelong Connections

Camp friends are friends for life. MCE camps are a wonderful place for lifelong friendships, connections, and they join a long list of notable alumni who have gone on to do great things. Being in the summer camp environment is a special, intense experience that many find hard to describe, and even harder to forget.

Believe me, there are more reasons (Activities! The opportunity to unplug! Vacations for the family! Tradition! I could keep going!), but for now I will leave you with these. If you had to choose, what would your number one reason for choosing summer camp in Maine? It’s hard to pick, I know!
