Building Self-Esteem

MCE camp directors recognize that building confidence and instilling a sense of community, identity and independence are critical for today’s child. Maine camps have been addressing current societal issues such as anti-bullying, self esteem and fitness years before they entered popular discussion. They focus on these topics year round and have formed strategic alliances to address them head on.

The MCE community sponsors events and outreach programs, such as “Race To Nowhere” and “Bully”, to raise awareness about the challeges children face today.

An Incredible Experience

Rebecca said,

She was so proud that she had gone on an all day hike and made it to the top of the mountain - something that she would normally have shunned.  Now she considers herself a camper, is way more willing to try new physical activities and has so much confidence socially too. Camp Fernwood was an incredible experience and we can't wait for next summer!
